As elder law attorneys, we frequently assist families with asset protection strategies and public benefits eligibility. We've learned over the last few years that our clients also require assistance with other issues. Worries like, “How do I know I’m doing the right thing for Mom?” or "How do I stay in my home as long as possible?” frequently arise during our representation. We've come to recognize that these concerns can’t be solved solely through a trust or a will.
As a result, we are happy to announce that we are now a member of The Life Care Planning Law Firms Association (lcplfa), a national network of law practices that offer legal services, care coordination and advocacy support to help elderly clients and their families respond to the challenges of aging, long-term illness and disability.
Life Care Planning builds upon traditional Elder Law, but also acknowledges the other issues associated with aging. Life Care Planning is a comprehensive, elder client-centered approach to the practice of law that helps families respond to challenges caused by chronic illness or disability of a loved one. The goal of Life Care Planning is to promote and maintain the good health, safety, well-being, and quality of life of elders and their families. Life Care Planning relies on an inter-disciplinary team that works to identify present and potential future care needs, find the needed care, and provide compassionate guidance through the maze of options of care. All the while addressing traditional Elder Law Asset protection concerns.
